Job Description:

A lovely family of four based in Virginia Water, Surrey is seeking a loyal and trustworthy Junior Gardener to join their household team. This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual looking to begin a new career, and offers a supportive environment for a Junior Gardener to flourish under the guidance of a highly experienced Gardener.

You will be working alongside the part-time Gardener, who has lovingly maintained the gardens for many years, offering mentorship and valuable hands-on guidance. The role will suit someone who is passionate about gardens and the natural environment, with a genuine desire to learn and grow within the position. Full training for this position will be provided.

Duties to include but not limited to:

  • Assist in the maintenance and ongoing development of the gardens and grounds to a high standard throughout the year
  • Carry out planting, weeding, hedge cutting, mulching, leaf clearance, pruning, lawn care, and seasonal garden tasks
  • Operate garden machinery and tools safely and confidently (training will be provided where needed)
  • Support with general outdoor upkeep and tidiness
  • Communicate regularly and clearly with the Senior Gardener and House Manager
  • Report progress and weekly updates
  • Work respectfully and professionally within a high-net-worth household setting
  • Daily dog walking
  • Pool maintenance and upkeep
  • Care and maintenance of the family vehicles (over 25’s)
  • Ad-hoc errands and general odd jobs
  • Receiving deliveries and opening gates for visitors

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds a recognised qualification or has previous experience in a related field (eg, RHS Level 2, college diploma, apprenticeship)
  • Some hands-on gardening experience (private estate or similar setting is a bonus)
  • Flexibility to work around the family schedule
  • Animal lover
  • Keen to learn, proactive, and demonstrates a strong work ethic
  • Understands the importance of discretion and appropriate behaviour within a private household
  • Kind, respectful, and well-mannered, with a positive can-do attitude
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and well-presented written English preferred
  • Confident using smartphones and apps for basic work-related communication
  • A genuine passion for gardening, and a desire to progress in the field
