Live-in Butler Exclusive Household Staff Norfolk
Our client is seeking an experienced, polished, and highly professional Live-in Butler to join their private household team on a beautiful private estate in the Suffolk countryside.
The estate extends to approximately 5,000 acres with 14 acres of beautifully maintained gardens and hosts both family life and private entertaining throughout the year.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering exceptional front-of-house service, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the principal residence, and providing discreet, anticipatory support to the Principals and their guests.
This is a full-time live-in position, working approximately 40 hours per week over five days, with flexibility required for evenings, weekends, and occasional additional hours during entertaining and private events.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-class butler service to the Principals, family, and guests
- Welcome and look after guests, ensuring a seamless and memorable experience
- Prepare, set, and clear dining tables to an exceptional standard
- Serve formal and informal meals, drinks, afternoon tea, and refreshments
- Assist with private entertaining, including drinks receptions and dinner parties
- Coordinate with the housekeeping, kitchen, gardening, and maintenance teams to ensure the household runs smoothly
- Oversee the presentation of reception rooms, dining areas, and guest accommodation
- Care for fine furnishings, silver, glassware, and other valuable household items
- Manage household inventories and ensure supplies are maintained
- Assist with guest arrivals, departures, and luggage
- Provide occasional driving duties when required
- Ensure the security of the residence, including locking up and setting alarms
- Assist with light household duties and provide flexible support across the estate as required
- Undertake additional duties as directed by the Principals
- Candidate Profile
- Previous experience as a Butler within a private household, luxury residence, yacht, or five-star hospitality environment
- Exceptional standards of service with strong knowledge of formal dining etiquette and household presentation
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Discreet, trustworthy, and accustomed to maintaining complete confidentiality
- Proactive, hands-on, and able to work independently while collaborating with the wider household team
- Flexible approach to working hours, particularly during periods of entertaining
- Full UK driving licence preferred
- Legal right to work in the UK
