Position Title: Housekeeper and Cook
Location: Private Residence, London (near St John\'s Wood)
Reports To: Homeowner / Principal
Working Pattern: Full-time (flexibility required, including occasional weekends)
Employment Type: Permanent
Salary: £50,000 DOE
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 11.30am–8.30pm with one hour lunch break

Purpose of the Role

The Housekeeper and Cook is responsible for ensuring the household is maintained to an exceptionally high standard of cleanliness, organization, and presentation at all times, whilst also preparing and serving nutritious, well-balanced meals in accordance with the family’s preferences and routines. The role requires discretion, professionalism, and a proactive approach to managing the day-to-day running of the home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out all cleaning duties to maintain the home in immaculate condition.
  • Undertake daily housekeeping tasks, including dusting, vacuuming, polishing, and floor care.
  • Manage laundry, ironing, wardrobe organization, and care of delicate fabrics.
  • Maintain stock levels of cleaning materials and household supplies.
  • Care for fine furnishings, silver, glassware, and artwork using appropriate cleaning methods.
  • Ensure all rooms are presented to a consistently high standard.
  • Notify the homeowner of any maintenance issues and liaise with service providers when required.

Cooking and Meal Preparation

  • Plan, prepare, and cook daily meals for the family, following dietary preferences and requirements.
  • Source and purchase fresh ingredients; maintain an organised and well-stocked kitchen.
  • Experience with cooking healthy, nutritious European meals
  • Ensure all meals are presented to a high standard and served at agreed times.
  • Maintain hygiene and cleanliness standards in all food preparation and storage areas.
  • Prepare food for occasional guests or small gatherings as directed.

General Household Duties

  • Liaising with maintenance team.
  • Accept deliveries, manage household errands, and organise dry cleaning or repairs as needed.
  • Assist with table setting and service for family meals and small functions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion in all aspects of the role.
  • Provide occasional support with pet care or guest assistance if required.

Skills, Experience, and Attributes Required

  • Previous experience in a similar role within a UHNW private household or luxury hospitality environment.
  • Proven longevity in current or existing role
  • Excellent cooking skills with the ability to plan and prepare a variety of cuisines.
  • Strong housekeeping and laundry skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional, discreet, and trustworthy at all times.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to working hours and household needs.
  • Good communication skills and fluent spoken English preferred.
