Job Description:
Our clients, with a large residence in Hindhead, Surrey, are looking for an experienced Russian speaking Handyman/Gardener to assist with the upkeep of their property.
They are looking for someone who is discreet, hardworking, friendly, and professional. Someone who is enthusiastic, committed, and eager to take on the responsibilities of the role would be well-suited to the position. This is a live-in role, ideally suited to a proactive and hands-on individual who is bilingual in Russian and English.
Duties and responsibilities:
Reporting to the Property Manager, the Handyman will:
- Be familiar with the equipment installed in the property
- Be able to solve urgent issues and deal with regular/ongoing maintenance of the building and its fabric
Carry out basic interior checks and maintenance, including:
- Daily, weekly, monthly checks
- Changing light bulbs
- Decorating
- Carrying out small repairs
- Basic electrical works, changing fuses, plugs, etc
- Basic plumbing, tap washers, leaks, etc
- Assisting Housekeeper with heavy or difficult jobs
- Maintain and care for pool
- Joint care of pets, shared with other staff
Carry out basic exterior checks and maintenance:
- Pressure washing paving and property exterior
- Paint exterior walls as and when required
- Repointing paving, paving repairs
- Splitting wood and care of fireplace including restocking supplies
- Cleaning of BBQs including keeping stocks of supplies
Security duties:
- Include locking/unlocking, setting/un-setting alarms, use of CCTV and Entryphone systems, and receiving deliveries
- Responding to alarms and taking appropriate action
- Run and update the property inventories in cooperation with the Property Manager
- Oversee Contractors as directed
- From time to time will be used as a driver of family members, employees, moving items between properties, and running errands
- Check and carry out basic maintenance of property vehicles
- Weekly test of fire alarm
- Health and safety checks and following safe working practices
- Responding to client requests when in residence
- The Handyman will carry out other duties as may be specified by the Client or Property Manager
- Care of houseplants
- Mow lawns around the property to the highest standards
- Apply fertilisers and lawn treatments
- Prune and maintain shrubs, trees, and herbaceous plants
- Plant a variety of trees, shrubs, and plants as agreed
- Maintain the tennis court
- Perform pond maintenance
- Seasonal leaf clearance
- Working independently and as part of wider maintenance team as required
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role
- Clean UK driving licence is a requirement
- Flexibility
- Willingness to learn
- Must have right to remain/settled status
- Preferably speak English and Russian
Start date: Immediate start
Working hours/days: 40 hours per week, 5 days a week with 2 days off (weekend or weekdays) – on rota with other handyman to provide 7 days’ p/w cover
Accommodation: A spacious apartment above garage with separate entrance, main double en-suite bedroom and large open plan sitting/dining. All bills are covered.
Salary: £30,000-£35,000 gross per annum
