Accommodation: Separate private lodge provided

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, with flexibility required for 2–3 evenings per week and one weekend day

Our client is seeking an experienced, proactive, and personable Houseman / Companion / Driver to support an independent 82-year-old gentleman at his beautiful private residence in Staffordshire. This is a varied and rewarding long-term opportunity for a practical, hands-on individual who enjoys working within a private household and providing first-class personal support. The successful candidate will become a trusted presence within the household, assisting the Principal with day-to-day activities while helping to ensure the smooth running of the home. The property is a well-maintained five-bedroom residence, supported by a dedicated cleaner and a full-time gardener. The successful candidate will live on the estate in a separate private lodge, offering comfortable and private accommodation. Whilst the accommodation is suitable for a married couple, this is a single role, and employment is available for one person only.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Driving the Principal to appointments, social engagements, and outings, including visits to local National Parks
  • Providing companionship and day-to-day support to the Principal
  • Assisting with general household administration, including managing appointments, correspondence, and personal errands
  • Running errands, shopping, and collecting prescriptions as required
  • Ensuring the home remains organised and presentable, working alongside the existing household staff
  • Providing practical assistance around the property and helping with general household tasks
  • Offering physical support when required, including assisting the Principal with wheelchair mobility
  • Liaising with household staff and external contractors where necessary
  • Maintaining discretion, professionalism, and complete confidentiality at all times
  • Being flexible to support the Principal during occasional evenings and one weekend day each week

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience working within a private household as a Houseman, Household Assistant, Companion, Driver, or in a similar all-rounder role
  • A full, clean UK driving licence with excellent driving skills
  • Capable of assisting the Principal with mobility and wheelchair support
  • Organised, proactive, and able to work independently using their own initiative
  • Friendly, patient, and personable, with excellent communication skills
  • Flexible, reliable, and happy to adapt to the Principal's changing needs
  • Highly trustworthy, discreet, and committed to maintaining the highest levels of confidentiality
