Hours/Days: Shift work – one week on-site Monday–Friday 8:00am–8:00pm, followed by one week on an on-call basis Monday–Friday 8:00am–8:00pm
We are seeking a highly competent, professional, and experienced Housekeeper to join a private family home in Wimbledon Village. This role combines housekeeping responsibilities with support for children and a large family dog. You may also occasionally provide cover for other household staff within a 10-mile radius. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and able to maintain a smoothly run household, consistently delivering high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and presentation. You will work with a Housekeeping team consisting of a Part-Time Housekeeper and a Junior Housekeeper.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure the smooth running of the family home, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation
- Daily cleaning duties throughout the property
- Laundry, ironing, clothes repair, wardrobe management, and care of delicate items (including trips to dry cleaners/alterers as required)
- Washing and changing bedding
- Managing household supplies, toiletries, and pet provisions, and replenishing as needed
- Running errands and handling deliveries
- Preparing meals when required (family-style or simple meals), and managing the weekly food shop
- Liaising with and overseeing contractors working in the home
- Caring for and managing a large, well-trained dog
- Supporting the family with childcare, including occasional collection from school, playdates, or activities if required
- Overtime duties by prior arrangement, including dog sitting and overnight house sitting when the family is on holiday
- Significant experience managing a large private household
- Pet and child-friendly, with a genuine interest in both
- Driver essential and confident driving in London (own car not required)
- Holds a valid DBS or is willing to obtain one
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to solve problems independently
- Discreet, trustworthy, and professional at all times
- Team player, able to work alongside other household staff
- Fluent English speaker with excellent communication skills preferred
- Flexible, adaptable, and approachable, able to maintain a calm and professional manner in a busy household
