Overview

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced, proactive, and professional Housekeeper/Household Manager to support a private family based in West Dorset. This is a varied and rewarding position for an individual who takes pride in maintaining a well‑organised household and is happy to take ownership of the day‑to‑day running of the home. The successful candidate will be hands‑on, highly organised, flexible in their approach, and comfortable working independently whilst ensuring the household operates efficiently and to the highest standards at all times. The family reside in a beautiful two‑storey property comprising approximately 10 rooms and share their home with four much‑loved pets, including two dogs and two cats; therefore, applicants must be genuinely pet‑friendly and confident caring for animals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Full housekeeping duties to maintain the property to an exceptional standard
  • Laundry and ironing, including the care of delicate and specialist garments where required
  • Daily organisation and upkeep of all household areas
  • Preparing and cooking meals for the two principals
  • Dog walking and the general care and wellbeing of the family's pets
  • Liaising and coordinating with tradespeople, contractors, and external service providers
  • Monitoring household supplies and ensuring the home remains fully stocked and organised
  • Assisting with the smooth day‑to‑day running of the household
  • Taking ownership of household operations and identifying areas for improvement where appropriate
  • Remaining in residence to oversee the property and care for the pets during periods when the family are travelling

  • Previous experience working within a private household in a similar position
  • Confident working independently and managing priorities effectively
  • Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail
