Working Days: Monday – Friday

Working Hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm, with flexibility required when the Principal is in residence

Our client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Maintenance Operative to join the team at their exceptional private residence in Surrey. The successful candidate will be practical, proactive, and possess a genuine can-do attitude, taking ownership of the day-to-day upkeep of the estate. They will have strong all-round maintenance skills, with a particular background in electrical and plumbing work, and be confident carrying out repairs themselves rather than relying solely on external contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out all aspects of day-to-day property maintenance across the estate
  • Undertake preventative maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of the property
  • Perform a wide range of hands-on repairs, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, decorating, painting, and general building maintenance
  • Diagnose maintenance issues and implement effective solutions efficiently
  • Proactively identify maintenance requirements before they become larger issues
  • Oversee and coordinate specialist contractors when required, ensuring work is completed to an exceptional standard
  • Liaise with suppliers and service providers
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance schedules and completed works
  • Ensure the estate is always presented to the highest standard, particularly in preparation for the Principal's visits
  • Respond promptly and efficiently to any maintenance emergencies

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar Maintenance Operative, Estate Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, or Property Maintenance role within a private household or prestigious estate
  • Strong hands-on experience in both electrical and plumbing maintenance is essential
  • A practical individual with a proactive approach and a genuine can-do attitude
  • Comfortable turning their hand to a wide variety of maintenance tasks and problem-solving independently
  • Experience overseeing and managing external contractors
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
