Exclusive Education is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2 at a school in Warrington. This Teaching Assistant role is full-time ideally but part-time hours will be considered for September 2025.
The ideal candidate for the Teaching Assistant position will have previous experience working with children with Autism and challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:- Support pupils with Autism and other Special Educational Needs to access the curriculum and engage in learning
- Assist in managing challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies and interventions
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised learning support as a proactive Teaching Assistant
- Implement behaviour management plans and support positive behaviour throughout the school day
- Assist pupils’ communication needs using tools such as PECs or other visual aids
- Support pupils’ social, emotional, and developmental needs in line with individual education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support ongoing assessment
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment in your role as a Teaching Assistant
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NCFE, CACHE, NVQ Level 1, 2 or 3) is desirable
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Recent experience working with children within the last two years
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism and special educational needs
- Excellent understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks
- Previous experience working across KS3, KS4, and KS5 is advantageous
- Ability to provide two professional references from recent roles working with children
- Hold a current DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
- Training or experience in PECs, TEACCH, or Team Teach is desirable
