Pay is more important to people than ever. But some people end up stuck on the same salary for years, relying on the generosity of their employer (that never comes). Not all firms work like that. Take this one. You might not join them because of the starting salary. But you might join them because they have an annual pay review that adds a few extra % each year. And the level of that % is down to your performance. And you might join them because of the accountability and clarity of their pay journey. The firm will give you a sizeable pay increase with each exam you pass meaning your starting salary is just that - a starting salary. Pass your level 4, or an AF exam, and that’s a four figure sum on your basic every year. Keep passing those exams and your pay will grow and grow. It’s clear, accountable and in your control.

You might also join this business because they have their own adviser academy. That’s great if you want to be a planner but also if you aren’t - it’s a sign of a business that wants to nurture and develop its employees. Retention is very, very important to them as you can see from the progression and pay journeys on offer.

As for the company itself they’re a successful, growing Chartered IFA firm with three offices across the North West. They have a need to add several new paraplanners to their team, ideally in their North Wales office.

As a paraplanner you’ll work with one of the firm’s 20 IFAs. A healthy proportion of them are directors guaranteeing you interesting, challenging work. That includes cashflow modelling/IHT planning/retirement planning etc.

Starting salaries are £37,000 if you are level 4 qualified and £45,000 if you are Chartered. To recap you’ll have an annual pay review that will help those figures grow. Alongside that there’s a benefits package including:

  • 4x DIS cover
  • Company sick pay scheme
  • Bupa PMI
  • Bupa Health Cash Plan
  • Study Support - Funding and study/exam time off
  • Cash back debit card
  • Fee free financial advice

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

You will have experience as a paraplanner and ideally be level 4 qualified. But the firm do have paraplanners who are on an exam journey so not having level 4 isn’t the end of the world. The firm is based in North Wales and believes in collaboration. There is some flexibility but the rest of the team are in the office most days. If you have experience of IO and Voyant that would be a help. But again it’s not an issue if not.
