Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Strategic Management: Supporting the strategic development and implementation of financial crime policies, standards, and procedures for UK, US and EMEA; fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture within the global team; collaborating with counterparts on the firm’s AML/CTF and sanctions compliance program.
- AML/CTF and Sanctions Advisory: Providing expert advice on AML/CTF and sanctions compliance; staying informed on legislative and regulatory changes; developing and maintaining robust AML/CTF policies and procedures.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conducting comprehensive risk assessments and gap analyses; developing and recommending mitigation strategies.
- Regulatory Compliance and Liaison: Monitoring changes in financial crime regulations; maintaining relationships with regulatory bodies; ensuring timely and accurate reporting and compliance.
- Training and Awareness Programs: Developing materials for training to enhance staff awareness of financial crime risks; promoting a culture of compliance and ethical behaviour.
- Monitoring, Reporting, and Incident Management: Identifying effective financial crime controls; providing regular reports on compliance adherence; supporting the investigation and resolution of financial crime incidents.
- Regulatory Enquiries and Documentation: Advising on regulatory enquiries, audits, and surveys; assisting with regulator interaction; maintaining documentation of all advisory activities.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- A law degree or equivalent legal qualification is preferred.
- Professional certifications in financial crime compliance (e.g., CAMS, ICA) are highly desirable.
- At least 8 years of experience in financial crime compliance, focusing on Policy, Advisory, Risk, Compliance and regulatory engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and overseeing financial crime compliance frameworks and policies.
- Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
- In-depth knowledge of AML/CTF regulations and international sanctions regimes.
- Proven experience in a financial crime policy and advisory role.
- Self-motivated individual with strong leadership and team management skills.
- Strong analytical, research and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent verbal, written and face-to-face communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
