The Role

Solicitors will be part of our legal team, working closely with Managers, Senior Solicitors, Solicitors, Trainees and Legal Analysts. Limited travel to the Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer offices or to clients may be required from time to time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct document review, due diligence or other practice area‐specific fee‐earning work (with a target average daily chargeable hours).
  • Undertake quality control and provide constructive feedback to ensure output is consistent with HSFKramer quality standards.
  • Work directly with other HSFKramer practice groups in our global network to deliver high‐quality support to clients and HSFKramer legal teams on appropriate projects.
  • Supervise trainees or legal analysts in relation to individual matters, dealing with complex legal matters or as directed by senior staff on appropriate projects.
  • Maintain up‐to‐date knowledge of areas of law relevant to the practice.
  • Ensure compliance with financial disciplines (e.g. daily time recording).
  • Provide any other assistance to the business on client matters and related tasks as required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister in England and Wales or Northern Ireland; candidates from other common‐law jurisdictions will be considered. If not qualified in England and Wales, must be willing to complete the requalification process.
  • At least 1 year's PQE, with a minimum of 6 months' experience in disputes/litigation. 3 years' PQE is desirable.
  • Qualifying law degree (2:1 or above) or a post‐graduate qualification in law with a minimum of 3 A‐levels or equivalent (ideally B‐grades or above).
  • Innovative mindset, curious about AI and emerging technologies.
  • Desirable: experience working in a commercial legal environment, ideally at a private practice law firm.
  • Knowledge and experience of legal work for the disputes practice group, e.g. large‐scale document review, with the ability to project‐manage the process from instruction to completion.
