Legal Analysts are part of our legal team, working closely with senior Disputes lawyers on the delivery of client work within the Disputes practice group of Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer’s Digital Legal Delivery practice group. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of disputes law, data, and technology. Legal Analysts in this team are not only delivering high‑quality legal work but are actively contributing to the evolution of how disputes are delivered through digital, data‑led and AI‑enabled approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct work, under the supervision of senior Disputes lawyers, on large‑scale contentious matters, including documentary analysis and reporting.
- Support the efficient management of large‑scale claims and investigations through consistent, high‑quality analysis, with performance measured against agreed productivity and quality benchmarks.
- Maintain an up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant areas of law to the Digital Legal Delivery Disputes practice.
- Ensure compliance with financial disciplines on matters (e.g., daily time‑recording).
Qualifications, skills and experience
Essential:
- Law graduate (2:1 or above) or a post‑graduate qualification in law with a minimum of 3 A levels (ideally B grades and above).
- Ability to review, analyse and organise documentary and factual evidence.
- Aptitude for learning and becoming proficient in the use of software and IT applications.
- Innovative mindset, with a strong interest in applying AI (including generative AI) and legal technology tools to improve legal service delivery.
Desirable:
- 6 months to a year’s work experience in an office‑based environment.
- Fluency in a second language with an ability to translate legal documents into English; Western European languages an advantage, other languages (e.g., Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Korean or Russian) especially desirable.
Working pattern & Location
Full time, permanent contract. Location: Belfast. The role is based in Belfast office but you will regularly work as part of a global Digital Legal Delivery team.
