Location: Exceptional Care Ltd, Malthouse Business Centre, 48 Southport Road

Join Our Team – Painter & Decorator – Multi Trade for Children’s Residential Homes

Location: Ormskirk / Lancashire (8 services)

Pay: ÂŁ150 per day

Shifts: 8.30am – 4.30pm Mon to Fri – you may be required to work weekends on occasion

We’re expanding and looking for an experienced Painter and Decorator to join our team. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining and transforming the interior and exterior of OFSTED-registered homes for children and young people, helping create calm, clean, and welcoming environments where they can feel safe and cared for.

This is more than just a decorating job — it’s an opportunity to directly contribute to the comfort and emotional well-being of vulnerable children through the environments you help create and maintain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and decorate walls, ceilings, woodwork, and external surfaces to a high standard across 8 residential homes and Head Office.
  • Carry out both planned redecoration and reactive painting tasks in occupied and vacant homes.
  • Use paints, stains, wall coverings, and protective finishes appropriate for residential care settings.
  • Carry out basic plastering and filling, surface preparation, and touch-up work as needed.
  • Assess and repair minor surface damage (cracks, damp patches, etc.) before painting.
  • Support refurbishments alongside other trades by coordinating decoration with ongoing maintenance tasks.
  • Perform basic repairs and general maintenance across other trades
  • Work in a tidy, respectful, and efficient manner, ensuring minimal disruption to staff and children.
  • Always follow health & safety procedures and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Respond promptly to urgent repairs and be available for occasional out-of-hours work if needed.

Required Criteria

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Painting & Decorating (or equivalent trade qualification)
  • Proven experience in residential or commercial painting and decorating
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Strong understanding of health & safety in the workplace
  • Ability to work independently and to a high standard in sensitive environments

Desired Criteria

  • Experience working in settings with vulnerable people, ideally children
  • Awareness of safeguarding procedures
  • Basic skills in patch plastering or minor tiling
  • CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme)
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
