We are currently recruiting an experienced Buyer with a strong background in either tooling, manufacturing or engineering to join a technically driven organisation, working closely with manufacturing suppliers across the UK. This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role where you’ll own supplier relationships and play a key part in shaping supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and developing strategic supplier relationships to deliver on cost, quality and delivery targets.
- Leading sourcing activity across tooling, manufacturing and subcontract services.
- Researching, selecting and onboarding suppliers aligned to purchasing strategy.
- Negotiating commercial contracts covering cost, lead time, quality and sustainability.
- Acting as the key interface between suppliers, Designers, Project Managers etc.
- Carrying out supplier and subcontractor audits to validate technical capability.
- Managing supplier performance, financial indicators and resolving commercial disputes.
- Supporting and influencing internal stakeholders to drive alignment and results.
- Contributing to and implementing purchasing strategy and process improvement.
- Keeping a constant eye on the market and identifying new sourcing opportunities.
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as a Buyer within manufacturing, ideally tooling, machinery or Engineering.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
- Confident working autonomously with excellent IT skills.
- Experience managing suppliers across quality, cost, delivery and performance metrics.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in a technical manufacturing environment.
