Reporting to the Projects Director, the Operations Manager will consistently deliver in line with department targets for the Project Delivery business area with direct responsibility for implementation, delivery, support and financial performance for their projects. With an established management team reporting to them, the Operations Manager will need to maintain and develop the project delivery business area and ensure effective and efficient delivery of all projects. The Operations Manager will work closely with the Projects Director to recruit new talent alongside the development and retention strategy for current employees.
The Operations Manager will have proven experience of overseeing multiple project implementations as well as managing development and delivery. They will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work within the business at all levels. They will possess proven leadership skills and excellent influencing and communication skills.
What you’ll be doing as our Operations Manager:
- Manages the strategic aspects of projects and mitigate any risk.
- Oversees Project Managers and Site Managers working on projects.
- Ensure engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures take place.
- Ensuring that the company safety and quality record is upheld.
- Develop, implement, and maintain sound business practices.
- Ensure that sufficient resources are available to deliver customer requirements within the required timescales.
- Ensure that all client requests are dealt with by the Project Delivery team in a professional and timely fashion.
- Produce accurate management information e.g. Financial, Contract Programming.
- Ensure projects meet or exceed budgeted financial objectives, including revenue and margin.
- Develop and meet revenue and other financial goals for practice.
- Manages the negotiation of contract pricing when necessary.
- Provides leadership, guidance and assistance in all aspects of the sales cycle.
- Grows long-term relationships with clients.
- Effectively communicates relevant practice information to superiors.
- Handles difficult personnel situations directly, using appropriate discretion, HR advice, and respect for the individual.
- Appraisal and development of staff.
- Take responsibility for various special projects from time to time.
- Evaluate and redesign project offerings.
- Understand the implications of different technical choices and guide clients to the best solution for their situation.
What we’re looking for in our Operations Manager:
Essential
- Extensive hands-on experience in a management-level role delivering Telecommunications Infrastructure Cabling, ICT and/or Security projects.
- Strong experience in project planning and delivery within an IT or technology environment.
- Solid knowledge of project management methodologies, including PRINCE2 and OGC project/programme processes.
- Strong understanding of project contracts, scope, deliverables and formal sub-contract management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple sites, design activities and production teams simultaneously.
- Proven capability to lead, motivate and develop multi-skilled project teams.
- Clear and confident communicator, with the ability to produce and deliver client presentations.
- Ability to lead pre-sales activities and rapidly absorb new services and applications.
- Relevant certifications such as CTPM, ECS, SMSTS.
Preferred but not essential
- Significant experience delivering Electronic Security projects.
- Broad experience in Enterprise Networking deployments (WAN, LAN, Server, Desktop, WLAN).
- Experience producing financial and operational reports for senior leadership.
- Additional certifications such as PRINCE2, BICSI, ITIL Foundation, MSP.
