We are currently recruiting for the position of Lifeguard (Ship) for Disney Cruise Line.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor guests in water and recreational facilities, providing constant surveillance to ensure guest safety.
  • Act as a first responder to emergency situations, executing life-saving techniques, CPR, and first aid procedures as needed.
  • Ensure guest well-being while enforcing policies, rules, and regulations of all water and recreational facilities.
  • Set up, maintain cleanliness, and ensure readiness of water and recreational facilities, verifying supplies and equipment are available during operating hours; replenish, clean, and maintain facilities to meet Disney Cruise Line standards.
  • Be fully qualified as a licensed lifeguard and adhere to all lifeguard requirements, regulations, and standards. Participate in regular training, including re-certification and destination-specific training.
  • Monitor radio communication with Lifeguard Coordinators, Recreation Managers, and other departments; communicate with the Bridge in emergencies.
  • Engage proactively with guests by addressing needs, answering questions, and providing information.
  • Fulfill other reasonable requests from management, including development and training classes, and assist with port adventures as needed based on skills and performance.
  • Perform emergency duties as specified in the ship\’s assembly stations and emergency evacuation plan.
  • Uphold safety management responsibilities in areas and operations under your control.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting guests (up to 100 lbs or more with assistance) and standing for extended periods in outdoor conditions during varying weather.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum six months recent experience as a lifeguard in a pool or high-volume environment.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment swim test and complete lifeguard training upon arrival in Orlando, Florida; certification must be maintained throughout the contract.
  • Ability to detect and respond to noises and distress signals in aquatic environments.
  • Ability to observe all sections of an assigned zone.
  • Vision of at least 20/25, corrected or uncorrected.
  • High fitness level with strong swimming skills.
  • At least 21 years old.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Willing to live and work onboard for a specified contract duration.
  • Ability to work 70-84 hours per week with limited time off.
  • Adherence to Disney Cruise Line appearance guidelines.
  • Willingness to share a cabin with other crew members.
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced, guest-service environment.
  • Flexible with work schedules, duties, and locations.
  • Appreciation for diversity among guests and crew.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in open water lifeguarding.
  • Experience with boats, snorkeling, or recreational equipment.
  • Good computer skills and operational knowledge.

Additional Information:

This is a SHIPBOARD role.

Applicants must:

  • Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard.
  • Commit to the position for at least 2-3 contracts before transferring or promoting.
  • Follow safety roles, emergency duties, and responsibilities as specified in the ship\’s assembly plan.
  • Uphold safety management responsibilities in your areas of operation.
  • Follow and embrace US Public Health, environmental, and company guidelines.
  • Be willing to share a cabin and work in a multicultural environment.
  • Be comfortable living in confined spaces with strict rules.
  • Adhere to a structured lifestyle both personally and professionally.

Your Responsibilities include:

  • Possessing a valid passport and C1/D Seaman\’s visa (DCL will provide documentation).
  • Completing a pre-employment medical exam.
  • Undergoing a criminal background check.
  • Bringing approved work shoes.

**Disney Cruise Line is a drug-free workplace. All new hires must undergo drug/alcohol testing within the first week onboard and throughout their contracts. Failure to pass will result in immediate termination.
