Excellence Healthcare Services Ltd is recruiting compassionate, reliable and motivated community care assistants to join our growing team.

This is a community based domiciliary care role, supporting service users in their own homes and travelling between scheduled care visits.

Our service operates 365 days a year, including weekends and bank holidays, because the people we support rely on their scheduled care every day.

Key Responsibilities

As a Community Care Assistant, you will provide person centred care and support in accordance with each service user's individual care plan.

  • Supporting service users with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming and toileting
  • Providing continence support where required
  • Supporting with medication in accordance with the individual's care plan, training and company procedures
  • Preparing meals and drinks and supporting good nutrition and hydration
  • Providing mobility and moving & handling support
  • Supporting service users with daily living activities
  • Encouraging and supporting service users to maintain their independence
  • Providing companionship, reassurance and emotional support
  • Supporting service users to access their community where this forms part of their agreed care
  • Observing service users' health and general wellbeing and reporting changes or concerns promptly
  • Recognising and reporting safeguarding concerns
  • Following infection prevention and control procedures
  • Maintaining service users' dignity, privacy, choice and independence
  • Following individual care plans and risk assessments
  • Completing accurate care records following each visit
  • Reporting accidents, incidents, medication concerns and changes in a service user's condition promptly
  • Communicating professionally with service users, relatives, colleagues and other professionals where appropriate
  • Maintaining confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries
  • Attending required training, meetings and supervision
  • Undertaking other reasonable care related duties within the scope of the role

Community Working & Driving

This is specifically a domiciliary care position involving regular travel between service users' homes.

Care Workers will be allocated scheduled visits within their working area and are expected to travel safely and reliably between those visits.

  • Be comfortable driving between service users throughout their working period
  • Be comfortable working independently in the community while maintaining communication with the office / on call team

Working Hours & Availability

Excellence Healthcare Services Ltd provides care 365 days a year, including weekends and bank holidays.

Full time and part time opportunities are available. Care workers will be required to commit to an agreed working pattern based on their availability and the operational needs of the service.

We operate between 7am to 10:30pm - working patterns may include:

  • Morning care visits
  • Daytime care visits
  • Evening care visits
  • Weekend working
  • Bank holiday working, including Christmas, Easter and other public holidays

Applicants must understand that weekend and bank holiday working forms part of domiciliary care provision.

Individual working patterns will be discussed and agreed during the recruitment process. Once working hours and rotas have been agreed, care workers are expected to attend their scheduled visits reliably and punctually.

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own reliable vehicle
  • Male and females are welcome
  • Previous care experience is welcomed but not essential, as full induction and training will be provided to suitable candidates with the right values and attitude
  • Already have an appropriate right to work in the UK
  • Not require sponsorship from Excellence Healthcare Services Ltd for this vacancy
  • Be able to work their agreed share of weekends and bank holidays
  • Be reliable and able to commit to agreed working patterns
  • Be compassionate, respectful and professional
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Be comfortable working independently in service users' homes
  • Be able to follow care plans, risk assessments, instructions and company procedures
  • Be willing to complete all required training
  • Be willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check and all other required recruitment checks
  • Be willing to provide appropriate employment / reference information as part of the recruitment process

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience in domiciliary care, home care or another health & social care environment
  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in health & social care
  • Previous medication training
  • Moving and handling experience
  • Experience supporting older people or adults with care and support needs

Previous care experience is not essential. Applicants who are new to care will be considered where they demonstrate the right values, reliability and suitability for the position.

Training & Development

Successful candidates will complete the company's induction and mandatory training programme and will receive appropriate support before working independently.

Care Workers will be expected to maintain their training and competencies throughout their employment and participate in supervision, observations and ongoing development.

Employees demonstrating strong performance, reliability and leadership potential may have opportunities to progress into roles such as senior care worker, field care supervisor and other operational or office based positions.

Safeguarding & Professional Responsibilities

All care workers have a responsibility to safeguard the health, safety and wellbeing of the people they support.

Care Workers must promptly report:

  • Safeguarding concerns
  • Significant changes in a service user's condition or wellbeing
  • Medication errors or concerns
  • Accidents and incidents
  • Falls
  • Unsafe equipment or environments
  • Missed or potentially missed care
  • Any other concern that could affect the safety or wellbeing of a service user
  • Employees must maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries and high standards of conduct at all times
