Excell Supply is seeking a committed and enthusiastic English Teacher to join a vibrant secondary school in Shrewsbury. We are looking for the ideal candidate to start in September. This is a long-term role with the potential to become permanent.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across KS3 and KS4, following the national curriculum.
  • Prepare pupils for GCSE English Language and Literature, using varied assessment strategies.
  • Foster a love of reading and literacy through creative teaching approaches.
  • Track and monitor student progress, using data to identify and support underachieving learners.
  • Participate in department planning meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives.
  • Support students with diverse needs, differentiating lesson content where necessary.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback on student work and maintain accurate records.
  • Support the school’s behaviour policy, promoting high expectations and respectful conduct.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Recent experience teaching English at secondary level.
  • Strong classroom management and excellent communication skills.
  • Passion for English literature and language.
  • A commitment to pupil progress and inclusive education.
