The Finance Manager plays a critical role in delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial and payroll information that supports effective decision making across the organisation. This position is responsible for managing core accounting processes, including month-end close, working capital control, budgeting support, statutory reporting, and VAT compliance, while also overseeing end-to-end global payroll operations across multiple regions. By producing detailed management reports, analysing variances, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining robust financial controls, the Finance Manager provides essential financial stewardship and partners with management to drive operational performance and strategic planning.

Key Duties

  • Financial Reporting & Analysis: Preparing accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow) and presenting findings to the senior management. This also includes WIP analysis of all existing projects on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Alongside senior management, leading the annual budget process, monitoring performance against targets, and performing variance analysis.
  • Cash Flow and Working Capital Management: Monitoring and updating Group short-term 13-week cashflow forecast across all entities (approx 4) to ensure the business has sufficient liquidity. Where required, presenting and liaising with the Group’s bankers on the cashflow forecast. This also includes managing trade supplier payment runs and management of debtors (raising invoices, chasing overdue debts with customers, etc.)
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws, statutory regulations, and internal policies, while mitigating financial risks. This also includes liaison with the Group’s auditors and HMRC as well as filing relevant quarterly tax returns.
  • Team Leadership: Supervising, mentoring, and developing relevant staff, including PMO team and staff responsible for AP/AR.
  • Processing payroll: Processing UK and overseas payroll and payment of relevant taxes.
  • Process Improvement: Reviewing existing financial systems and controls to drive efficiency and cost reduction.
  • To control working capital of the business through management of debtors and creditors.
  • To investigate variances against budgets and provide analysis of differences.
  • To perform month end reconciliations (and where required returns) for Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payable, VAT, Fixed Assets and the General Ledger in the Group’s finance system.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and cash flow forecasts.
  • Prepare and update the Group’s rolling 13-week cashflow forecast.
  • To prepare the quarterly VAT return, and draft Financial Statements.
  • Hold monthly meetings with management to discuss the budgetary position and agree action plans where required.
  • End-to-end payroll processing for the UK (SAGE) and Australia (ADP).
  • Coordination of Czech Republic payroll with local bureau and submission of monthly reports.
  • Preparation and submission of statutory forms (P11D, P60, P45).
  • Knowledge of redundancy pay calculations and compliance.
  • Pension contribution processing and data uploads for the UK and Australia.
  • Preparation of payroll reconciliations and journals for Finance.
  • Ensuring compliance with local tax, labour, and social security regulations globally.
  • Managing payroll queries from employees across multiple regions.
  • Producing, analysing, and presenting monthly management reports and payroll-related KPIs.
  • Process global employee expenses and managing global invoice payments, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
  • Administer pension contributions in Australia and the UK, including uploading contribution data to the relevant pension systems and ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.
  • Produce monthly management packs and payroll summaries for senior leadership, including variance analysis, cost reporting, headcount tracking, and trend insights to support decision making.

Key Skills

  • Related discipline; professional certification ACCA, CIMA, CPA preferred.
  • Expert or proficient in using SAP and using SAP to extract and analyse financial data.
  • Expert or proficient in using Excel.
  • Experience of worked in a financial role where “work in progress” (WiP) accounting is used.
  • Proven experience in management accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes.
  • Strong understanding of working capital management, including debtors and creditors and short-term cashflow forecasting.
  • Hands-on experience with VAT returns, statutory reporting, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end payroll processes across multiple regions (UK, Australia, and international jurisdictions).
  • Solid knowledge of payroll legislation, tax compliance, labour laws, and social security regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting and payroll systems (e.g., SAGE, ADP) and strong Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to analyse variances, interpret financial data, and present insights to senior management.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external payroll bureaus.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining data integrity and compliance.

Role will be full time working from home to start with but the successful candidate should expect that they will eventually be working in the office 3-4 days (timing TBC).
