Excelcare is a family‑owned Care Home group that has delivered high‑quality care for over 34 years. We are looking for a skilled Carpenter or Kitchen Fitter to join our maintenance team on a special refurbishment project across 10 Cambridge‑area care homes. The role will involve kitchen, bathroom and fire door work, with occasional plumbing and electrical tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and install kitchen and bathroom units, cabinets and worktops.
- Fit and hang fire doors.
- Read design plans and drawings, marking and preparing accurate installation areas.
- Adjust and modify units to fit around obstructions (pipes, columns, electrics, etc.) ensuring precise finishes.
- Measure, cut and install worktops, including mitre joints.
- Carry out simple plumbing connections and adjustments.
- Finish tasks such as painting, filling and tiling.
- Maintain a clean, safe workspace.
- Adhere to company policies, particularly gas, health, safety and fire procedures.
- Ensure work complies with relevant legislation.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and staff information.
- Order and check stock deliveries.
- Collaborate with Home Managers, team members and residents.
- Carry out any additional duties as requested.
- Participate in training and development opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills
- Relevant experience and qualifications in carpentry or kitchen fitting.
- Knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Completed enhanced DBS for work with vulnerable adults.
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence and own vehicle to travel between homes (a van will also be provided).
- Typical working hours: 08:00 am–05:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
- Salary: £36,400–£38,640 per annum.
