We have a fantastic opportunity for a Clinical, Nurse qualified Trainer to join our well-established Care Quality and Governance team at Excelcare. We have 30 nursing and care homes and an expanding children’s care home service across the south east covering Essex, Milton Keynes, South London and Essex.
Reporting to the Director of Care Quality & Governance and working in collaboration with the Learning and Development Team, the Clinical Trainer would be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical training across the portfolio, ensuring staff are skilled, competent and confident in providing safe and effective care. The role supports consistent practice, improved training utilisation and alignment with Excelcare’s Learning & Development standards.

- Hours: 9-5.30pm, Monday to Friday
About the Clinical Trainer role:
- Deliver engaging, evidence-based clinical training sessions across our portfolio of care homes.
- Design, review, and update clinical training materials to ensure they reflect current legislation, best practice and organisational policy.
- Provide clinical guidance, coaching and competency assessment to Registered Nurses within the care homes and team members, including new starters and those requiring refresher development.
- Liaise with Registered Managers, Nurses, Team Leaders, and regional trainers where relevant and support in the identification of future training needs, ensuring timely access to clinical development opportunities.
- Maintain accurate electronic training records and ensure timely upload of attendance and completion data into the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Travel routinely across regions to deliver on-site training and always represent Learning & Development professionally.
- Act as a clinical ambassador for the 'Excelcare Way’, promoting values-led, person-centred practice and supporting a positive learning culture.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, including feedback evaluation, reflective review, and continuous improvement of training delivery.
- Support the induction pathway for new starters, ensuring the integration of core clinical skills with organisational values and expectations.
- Maintain up-to-date professional registration with the NMC and engage in ongoing CPD relevant to the role.
- Participate in Lessons Learnt and Governance webinars or events to ensure that teaching is in line with current practice and guidance for Excelcare.
About you:
- Registered Nurse (Adult, Mental Health, or Learning Disabilities) with active NMC registration.
- Recognised trainer qualification such as PTLLS, AET, Teaching diploma/degree or above.
- Ability to deliver high-quality clinical training to diverse staff groups.
- Strong presentation, communication, and coaching skills.
- Ability to travel independently across multiple regions.
- Excellent organisational and scheduling skills.
- Ability to adapt training for different learning styles and levels of experience.
- Competent in using electronic records and LMS platforms.
- Recent clinical experience in health or social care settings.
- Car owner and full driving licence to be able to travel across the services.
- Identifying trends and themes - gaps and areas for development.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, medication management, moving & handling, infection control, and core clinical procedures.
- Awareness of learning principles, assessment methods, and blended learning approaches.
- Knowledge of current legislation and best practice within children’s services, as well as familiarity with Ofsted and Children’s Homes Regulations would be desirable.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively, with strong organisational skills and an adaptable communication style.
