Reporting to the Regional Operations Director (DROD) and working alongside a second Performance & Improvement Assessor, the role involves undertaking audits and reviews to support and embed the Company’s quality framework in relation to the delivery of care and overall management of homes.
Excelcare is a privately owned Nursing and Care Home provider established for over 34 years. The Cambridge & Milton Keynes region comprises 14 care homes and offers an opportunity to join a strong and well‑established Home Management and Regional team.
Responsibilities- Undertake audits and reviews to embed the quality framework and monitor key performance indicators for oversight and governance.
- Co‑ordinate audit and visit schedules in line with regulatory, contractual and company requirements, collaborating with Home Managers and the DROD.
- Ensure each home completes the required suite of audits in line with the quality framework.
- Prepare pre‑audit research, collate data and identify areas of interest.
- Record, analyse and report findings from audits and quality reviews, using the company’s system fully.
- Produce SMART action plans based on audit and review findings, supporting continuous improvement and feeding back to the Deputy Regional Operations Director and the Regional Operations Director.
- Raise safeguarding, serious non‑compliance and risk issues to the Home Manager, DROD and ROD as appropriate.
- Ensure audits are completed in a non‑biased approach and support provision of information regarding audit reports.
- Provide monthly reports for each home on identified barriers, themes and other findings.
- Provide feedback on audit tools and scoring to the ROD and raise identified scores with the Care Quality & Governance team and Chief Operating Officer.
- Promote a culture of openness, honesty and transparency around clinical governance matters, encouraging sharing of practice and recognising areas of improvement and excellence.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of CQC regulations, standards, Health and Social Care Act 2008, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, Food Safety standards, Safer Food Better Business 2019 and related legislation.
- Set clear lines of communication (e.g., via email or Teams meetings) to individual homes and teams with updates on oversight and governance.
- Undertake any other oversight and governance tasks as directed by the DROD and ROD.
- A Management, audit or nursing qualification in the health and social care sector (desirable).
- Competence in the use of auditing systems.
- Experience working in nursing/care homes and managing quality and governance within the sector.
- Strong report writing skills, able to present complex information to diverse audiences.
- Competent user of MS Office packages and systems.
- Experience observing and assessing skills and providing constructive feedback.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to identify trends and themes, remain impartial and remain up‑to‑date with CQC regulations and legislation.
- Understanding of the Care Act, Health & Social Care Act and Mental Capacity Act.
- Car owner and full driving licence with the ability to travel across services; car allowance and business mileage is paid from the regional office.
- Flexibility to travel across regions and to the Support Office in Bromley as necessary.
