About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced VMU Manager to oversee the daily operation of a busy commercial vehicle workshop supporting a fleet operation. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, maximising uptime, and ensuring full compliance across all fleet and workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the daily operations of the VMU/workshop
- Oversee servicing, maintenance, and repair of HGV and commercial vehicles
- Ensure full DVSA and legal compliance standards are met at all times
- Plan and prioritise workshop workload to maximise efficiency and reduce downtime
- Lead, manage, and develop workshop technicians and support staff
- Maintain accurate service, inspection, and compliance records
- Liaise with transport and operations teams to ensure fleet availability
- Control workshop costs, parts usage, and supplier performance
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, productivity, and workshop performance
About You:
- Proven experience as a VMU Manager, Workshop Manager, or Fleet Maintenance Manager
- Strong background in HGV, transport, logistics, or commercial vehicle maintenance
- Excellent knowledge of DVSA compliance and fleet regulations
