About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced VMU Manager to oversee the daily operation of a busy commercial vehicle workshop supporting a fleet operation. This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring all vehicles are maintained to the highest standards, maximising uptime, and ensuring full compliance across all fleet and workshop operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the VMU/workshop
  • Oversee servicing, maintenance, and repair of HGV and commercial vehicles
  • Ensure full DVSA and legal compliance standards are met at all times
  • Plan and prioritise workshop workload to maximise efficiency and reduce downtime
  • Lead, manage, and develop workshop technicians and support staff
  • Maintain accurate service, inspection, and compliance records
  • Liaise with transport and operations teams to ensure fleet availability
  • Control workshop costs, parts usage, and supplier performance
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, productivity, and workshop performance

About You:

  • Proven experience as a VMU Manager, Workshop Manager, or Fleet Maintenance Manager
  • Strong background in HGV, transport, logistics, or commercial vehicle maintenance
  • Excellent knowledge of DVSA compliance and fleet regulations
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Highly organised with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
