We are currently recruiting for an experienced Transport Planner on behalf of an established logistics organisation. This is a key role within a fast-paced operation, responsible for ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and reliable movement of goods across a busy transport network.

About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Plan and optimise daily and weekly transport schedules to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Build and maintain effective delivery routes, balancing service levels with cost control
  • Monitor live transport operations and respond quickly to delays, breakdowns, or last-minute changes
  • Ensure all deliveries are completed on time and in line with customer expectations
  • Communicate clearly with drivers, providing accurate instructions and ensuring adherence to schedules
  • Work closely with warehouse, operations, and customer service teams to ensure smooth coordination
  • Manage relationships with subcontractors and third-party transport providers
  • Ensure full compliance with drivers’ hours, health & safety, and transport regulations
  • Maintain accurate records and update transport planning systems in real time
  • Review transport performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a transport planning, logistics coordination, or supply chain role

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of route planning, scheduling, and transport operations
  • Working knowledge of drivers’ hours and transport compliance requirements
  • Ability to work under pressure and make effective decisions in a fast-moving environment
