Hours: 35 hours per week – 5 days x 7 hour shifts across a Monday – Sunday rota. Pay is negotiated from Real Living Wage upwards dependent on relevant experience. Please note: Your working pattern may vary as per the rota. You will be required to work across Monday-Sunday between 9am-7pm. Shifts may include working during bank holidays.

As a Dispersed Housing Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting those who are experiencing, or are at risk of, homelessness and rough sleeping. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by helping individuals overcome barriers, develop life skills, improve their wellbeing, with the main aim of moving to independent living. This is a community-based role supporting people within their own homes across Sefton/Liverpool. You will manage a caseload delivering one-to-one support, welfare checks, support planning, and risk assessments in residents’ homes and local communities. Due to the travel needed between properties throughout the working day, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential for this role. We particularly welcome applications from individuals with lived experience or from underrepresented backgrounds.

WHAT YOUR DAY WOULD LOOK LIKE.
Few days are ever quite the same, but every day begins with purpose. You’ll start your shift by logging on – at one of the Liverpool / Sefton buildings managed by Excel Housing Solutions. Next, you’ll check emails, Teams messages and handovers on your work phone, iPad or desktop. This is your chance to understand what has happened since your last shift, identify any emerging risks, gather important information and plan the day ahead. With your schedule in place, it’s time to meet or call the clients you’re supporting that day. Some meetings may take place in an office, while others will happen in a client’s temporary accommodation. Each of the people living in our dispersed accommodation have their own story, challenges and aspirations. Through a strengths-based approach, you’ll help people build confidence, develop practical skills and take positive steps towards stability and independence. Progress may be gradual, but every achievement – no matter how small – is worth celebrating.
As a Dispersed Housing Support Worker for Excel Housing Solutions dispersed single adult clients, you’ll also help ensure clients are receiving the financial support they’re entitled to by checking benefits are in place and maximised. Sometimes that means making referrals to specialist services or accompanying a client to an initial appointment, helping to build their confidence and strengthen relationships with partner agencies. You’ll also play an important part in helping people prepare for their next chapter, encouraging and supporting clients to move on to social or other suitable housing when they have the skills and confidence to do so within agreed timescales.
Along the way, you’ll work closely with a range of partner organisations, including Change, Grow, Live (CGL), Health Professionals, Compassion Acts, Citizens Advice, Light for Life, Probation Services, the police and any other agencies. Although much of the role involves lone working, you’re never working alone. You’ll collaborate with other support colleagues, and those in finance, resettlement and maintenance, sharing knowledge and supporting one another to achieve the best outcomes for resident. You’ll have the autonomy to manage your own diary and workload, balancing appointments, administration and unexpected demands. Accurate and timely record keeping is an essential part of the role. Whether you’re updating support plans, completing safety plans, recording safeguarding concerns, making referrals or writing case notes, you’ll ensure everything is documented to a high standard using Mainstay and our internal database system.
Whilst planning is important, flexibility is just as valuable. Priorities can change quickly, and few days unfold in the same way. With support from managers and colleagues, you’ll adapt to respond to crises, serious incidents, emergencies or provide cover when a teammate needs assistance. As your shift comes to an end, you’ll complete a handover, sharing the challenges you’ve encountered and the successes you’ve helped create. You’ll log off knowing that, through compassion, professionalism and practical support, you’ve made a genuine difference to people’s lives — and your next shift will bring new opportunities to do it all again.
