We're seeking an experienced Security Operations Consultant to support a central government department's security operations function. This is a client-side role, working directly within the department to strengthen and mature their security operations capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and advise on day-to-day Security Operations Centre (SOC) activity, including alert triage and escalation processes
- Assist with incident detection, investigation, and response
- Advise on SIEM tooling, use case development, and logging/alerting strategy
- Support vulnerability management processes: prioritisation, remediation tracking, and reporting
- Review and enhance security policies, playbooks, and incident response runbooks
- Act as a bridge between technical security teams and departmental stakeholders, translating risk into business-relevant terms
- Contribute to the ongoing maturity and continuous improvement of the security operations function
Essential Requirements
- Active SC Clearance
- Proven experience in a Security Operations Consultant, SOC Lead, or similar client-side security operations role
- Strong understanding of SIEM platforms, threat detection, and incident response processes
- Experience working within, or advising, public sector or government security functions is highly desirable
