  • Consultant Occupational Health Physician (MFOM/FFOM)
  • We are seeking a GMC-registered Consultant Occupational Health Physician

(MFOM/FFOM) with proven experience in Ill Health Retirement assessments, acting as an Independent Registered Medical Practitioner

(IRMP), and undertaking

Fire Service medicals.

This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced Occupational Health professional to provide senior clinical leadership, influence clinical standards, support complex case management, and drive quality and best practice across a multidisciplinary Occupational Health team.

Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based Occupational Health services, supporting clinicians, managing complex cases, and contributing to the strategic development of the service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide senior clinical leadership and oversight across the Occupational Health service.
  • Manage complex, sensitive, and potentially litigious Occupational Health cases.
  • Ensure consistency and quality of medical advice through clinical audits, governance processes, and quality reviews.
  • Support the onboarding, validation, and development of Occupational Health clinicians.
  • Provide expert guidance on Occupational Health legislation, HSE guidance, and medical standards.
  • Undertake Ill Health Retirement assessments and provide pension-related medical advice.
  • Act as an Independent Registered Medical Practitioner (IRMP).
  • Conduct Fire Service medical assessments.
  • Deliver consultations via telephone, video, and face-to-face appointments as required.
  • Work closely with senior stakeholders to support operational and strategic objectives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and service development.
  • GMC-registered Medical Practitioner with a licence to practise.
  • Accredited qualification in Occupational Health.
  • MFOM or FFOM qualification.
  • Significant experience in a senior or consultant-level Occupational Health role.
  • Experience conducting Ill Health Retirement assessments.
  • Experience acting as an Independent Registered Medical Practitioner (IRMP).
  • Experience undertaking Fire Service medicals.
  • Strong background in clinical governance, audits, and quality assurance.
  • Proven experience managing complex Occupational Health cases.
  • Experience mentoring, supporting, and developing Occupational Health clinicians.
  • Excellent understanding of Occupational Health legislation, best practice, and medical standards.
