We’re now looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of financial reporting and control.

The Role: Reporting to the Deputy Chief Accountant, you’ll take ownership of key areas within the Council’s financial reporting framework, with a particular focus on fixed assets and lease accounting. This is more than a technical role – you’ll work closely with services across the Council, combining financial expertise with business partnering to drive improvements and support decision-making.
- Support the year-end closure of accounts and strengthen financial controls
- Lead and develop IFRS 16 lease accounting processes
- Oversee Property, Plant & Equipment (PPE) accounting to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Ensure adherence to IFRS and CIPFA accounting standards
- Provide insightful financial advice to stakeholders across the Council
- Identify opportunities to enhance processes and financial reporting
About You: We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment. You will have:
- A CCAB or CIMA qualification (or be part-qualified and actively studying)
- Strong financial accounting experience, ideally with exposure to fixed assets
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with complex datasets
- Local government experience (desirable, but not essential)
