About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated First Contact Physiotherapist Team Lead to oversee our FCP workforce across Southampton. This role combines clinical expertise with operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and high quality FCP services within local Primary Care Networks (PCNs). You will lead a team of FCPs, Development FCPs, and network leads, supporting their professional development while maintaining strong relationships with PCN partners and ensuring services align with local and national standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership and Line Management
    • Provide line management for FCPs, Development FCPs, and network leads across local PCNs.
    • Support clinical staff working in both remote and in clinic FCP settings.
    • Mentor and guide Development FCPs through the Roadmap to Practice pathway.
    • Lead on staff management processes including appraisals, performance reviews, disciplinaries, and training.
  • Clinical Quality and Professional Development
    • Work closely with the Clinical Lead to ensure services are safe, effective, well led, caring, and responsive.
    • Collaborate with other Team Leads to develop clinical skills across the FCP workforce.
    • Support and deliver in house training sessions and assist with external training where required.
    • Contribute to local and regional audits to maintain high clinical standards.
    • Maintain a significant clinical caseload as an FCP, with protected non clinical time for leadership duties.
  • Relationship Management and Service Development
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with PCNs and key stakeholders across the region.
    • Attend PCN meetings to present service data, discuss performance, and support training for administrative and clinical staff.
    • Work with NHS partners to ensure FCP services are effectively embedded within local pathways and aligned with national guidance.
    • Escalate concerns to Clinical Leads where appropriate and support resolution.
    • Deliver face to face FCP clinic days within PCNs as part of the role.

About You

  • Qualified Physiotherapist with experience working as an FCP.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Confident in supporting staff development and navigating the Roadmap to Practice.
  • Excellent communication and relationship building abilities.
  • Able to balance clinical responsibilities with operational leadership.
  • Committed to delivering high quality, patient centred care.
