Supporting exceptional patient care in a professional clinical environment, role is based in Penzance Cornwall on site – TR18 3LS. Salary – £26726.40. Hours vary between 7am – 8pm Monday to Friday.

We are seeking a professional, friendly and highly organised Receptionist / Administrator to join our busy clinical team. This dual‑function role combines front of house reception duties with essential administrative support, ensuring the smooth running of the clinic and an exceptional experience for every patient. As the first point of contact for patients, visitors, clinicians and referrers, you will play a key role in delivering a welcoming, efficient and compassionate service. You will also support clinical and operational processes through accurate, timely and high‑quality administration.

Role Purpose

Key Responsibilities

Patient Experience & Reception

  • Deliver a welcoming experience for all patients, visitors and families.
  • Greet patients, verify identity and record arrivals in the clinical system.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and professional reception and waiting area.
  • Manage walk‑in enquiries and provide clear guidance.
  • Process payments for private services in line with procedures.
  • Support daily clinic operations, including opening and closing duties.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Manage multiple inboxes and direct communications appropriately.
  • Process new referrals, upload documentation and initiate first patient contact.
  • Liaise with third‑party referrers to support treatment pathways.
  • Update referrer systems with accurate, timely information.
  • Upload/send discharge letters, reports and other communications.
  • Support clinicians with administrative queries via phone, online systems and in person.
  • Book, amend and cancel appointments, including rescheduling lists.
  • Assist the customer service team with incoming and outgoing calls.
  • Maintain accurate records in line with confidentiality and data protection requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Customer or patient-facing experience essential.
  • Experience in an administrative role within a customer‑focused environment.
  • Healthcare or patient‑based experience desirable.
  • Experience handling queries, concerns or complaints in a public‑facing role.
