Position

• Clinical Psychologist
• Ad‑hoc hours contract only
• Hourly rate £75‑£100
• Location: Assessments at your nearest clinic, with over 250 locations across England and Wales (usually within an hour of your doorstep)

If you are 12 months post‑qualification, working as a Clinical Psychologist and thinking of taking the self‑employed route or picking up an extra income outside of your standard working day, this could be a great opportunity for you.

About you

Experience as a Clinical Psychologist with 12 months of patient care in varied mental‑health settings is required. You must also be registered on the HCPC for at least 12 months under “Clinical OR Forensic Psychologist”. Excellent assessment and administration skills, a strong understanding of psychological assessment tools, and hands‑on experience in CBT, EMDR, or similar cognitive treatments (children and/or adults) are essential.

The role

Carry out evaluations on medico‑legal, personal‑injury, crime‑related, and immigration cases. You will not implement treatment but will recommend diagnosis, prognosis, and appropriate therapy. Working on behalf of insurers, courts, and solicitors, you will assess individuals’ mental health and capacity to stand trial, face deportation, or pursue a personal‑injury claim.

Reports are written by legal secretaries; your role is to validate the report. Patient health records and forms (e.g., for generalized anxiety disorder) will be available for preparation. You will back‑date medical records to the noted incident or offence, requiring minimal administrative work.

Terms of business and requirements of the role

• Work only when an instruction in your remit and area is available.
• Commuting: must meet patients on site at the nearest clinic to your address.
• Expenses: fuel expenditure paid over a designated mileage.
• Proof of qualifications: Diploma, Bachelor’s or Master’s.
• Indemnity insurance: cover your own up to £5 million, including medico‑legal coverage.
• ICO certification or willingness to apply as a self‑employed sole trader.
