Shift Pattern: Monday – Friday, 9:00pm – 9:00am

Our client is seeking several resilient, patient, and emotionally intelligent Male Healthcare Assistants to join a dedicated complex care package supporting an older adult male living with the long-term effects of a brain injury. This is a waking night position, providing structured support, maintaining safety and dignity, and ensuring the home environment is clean and prepared for the day shift.

The Client’s Interests are varied, but he particularly enjoys listening to Tony Blackburn and Radio 2 and loves 1960s music. He is an avid fan of football and a strong West Ham supporter. He keeps socially active at the local community centre in the evenings, and really enjoys getting out and about accessing the community via his wheelchair in the Summer. So, if you share some of these interests this could be the perfect client match for you!

Client Overview:

  • Male individual with a brain injury following a severe asthma event.
  • Full mental capacity.
  • Non-mobile; uses a wheelchair when out of bed.
  • Fully adapted home with ceiling hoist.
  • Urethral catheter in situ (District Nurse completes regular checks).
  • Asthma well-managed; requires nebuliser support.

Key Responsibilities:

Night Duties:
  • Conduct two-hourly non-disturbance checks, including monitoring catheter and prompting repositioning if required.
  • Maintain a calm, supportive presence throughout the night.
  • Complete light household tasks such as emptying the washing machine and hanging laundry, ensuring home is ready for day staff, cleaning kitchen and bathroom.
Care and Clinical Support:
  • Assist with all aspects of personal care and daily living.
  • Use of ceiling hoist and appropriate moving/handling techniques.
  • Support with catheter care (as per training and care plan).
  • Support with nebuliser use.
  • Work professionally within a structured, detailed care plan.
Behavioural Support:
  • Maintain personal and professional boundaries.
  • Remain calm, professional, and reassuring.
  • Follow behavioural guidelines and de-escalation strategies.

Essential Requirements:

  • Full right to work in the UK.
  • A minimum of 12 months recent UK complex care experience (live-in or similar).
  • Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check.
