About the Role
Working closely with the Lead Medical Practitioner and Senior Management Team, you will:
- Lead the delivery of a comprehensive, high‑quality Occupational Health service
- Act as an autonomous practitioner, managing complex cases and clinical decisions
- Oversee and support a team of Occupational Health professionals
- Drive clinical governance, service innovation, and business growth
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Occupational Health team day‑to‑day
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices
- Drive clinical governance frameworks and standards
- Support the business in achieving and maintaining SEQOHS accreditation
Service Delivery & Quality
- Oversee OH contracts to ensure high‑quality service delivery
- Manage complex case referrals and sickness absence cases
- Deliver expert advice on occupational health risks and workplace wellbeing
- Ensure compliance with NMC standards, legislation, and best practice
Growth & Development
- Mentor and develop clinicians through career pathways and CPD programmes
- Promote a strong independent nurse culture
- Contribute to business growth through measurable, high‑quality service outcomes
- Work alongside HR, senior stakeholders, and external partners
- Partner with allied health professionals to develop vocational rehabilitation services
- Deliver training, health promotion activities, and workplace wellbeing initiatives
About You
- Qualified & Experienced: RGN with Occupational Health Diploma/Degree
- At least 5 years’ OH experience (including complex case management)
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership / clinical lead role
- Highly Skilled: Full OH remit including health surveillance, immunisations, and safety‑critical medicals
- Strong knowledge of clinical governance, SEQOHS, and legislation
- Experienced in absence management, rehabilitation, and pre‑employment screening
- Commercially Astute: Strong understanding of OH business operations, KPIs, and service delivery
- Confident producing clear, concise reports and case notes
- Inspirational Leader: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Able to influence senior leaders, employees, and external partners
- Passionate about continuous improvement and service excellence
