We are currently recruiting for an experienced Multi Trade Operative to join a busy and growing property maintenance team working across Planned Works, Void Refurbishments, and Responsive Maintenance (RM) contracts. This is a hands-on role delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance in both occupied and void social housing properties, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a consistently high standard. You will be representing a leading maintenance provider on the front line—combining technical skill, professionalism, and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out high-quality multi-trade repairs and maintenance in residential properties (occupied and void)
- Deliver a range of works across carpentry, plumbing, plastering, painting, tiling, and basic brickwork
- Support void property refurbishment programmes, ensuring homes are safe, compliant, and ready for re-let
- Attend responsive maintenance call-outs, diagnosing issues and completing first-time fixes where possible
- Accurately complete PDA/mobile job updates, timesheets, and work records
- Communicate professionally with residents, clients, and colleagues at all times
- Ensure safe use of materials, tools, and PPE at all times
- Participate in toolbox talks, inspections, and safety briefings
- Take part in an out-of-hours rota if required
About You:
We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and customer-focused tradesperson with experience in social housing or similar environments.
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Multi Trade Operative (social housing, voids, planned works, or responsive repairs)
- Skilled in at least two core trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, plastering, painting, tiling, brickwork)
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations and risk assessment procedures
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (especially in occupied homes)
- Ability to use handheld devices (PDA / mobile job management systems)
- Full UK driving licence (clean preferred)
Security Requirements:
- Must hold or be eligible for SC clearance
- Must meet BPSS requirements and be willing to undergo vetting and renewals
Desirable:
- NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in a trade discipline
- Asbestos Awareness, Working at Height, Manual Handling, First Aid certifications
- Experience working with MOD, housing associations, or local authority contracts
- Experience mentoring apprentices or junior staff
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
