Due to continued growth, our client is looking to add an additional Transport Planner to their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy, fast-paced operation where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the efficient planning and utilisation of the fleet. You’ll be working closely with drivers, customers, and internal teams to keep operations running smoothly and maximise load efficiency.
The Role
As a Transport Planner, you will play a key role in coordinating daily vehicle movements, ensuring routes are planned efficiently and cost‑effectively while maximising fleet utilisation through effective back‑loading. You’ll be part of a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment where no two days are the same, requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to think on your feet. This is a fully office‑based role, working five days a week from a well‑located site Wetherby, offering a great working environment within a close‑knit and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily routes for a fleet of vehicles
- Maximise vehicle utilisation by sourcing and organising backloads
- Liaise with drivers, customers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth operations
- Monitor and adjust schedules in real‑time to deal with any issues or delays
- Use internal systems and platforms to manage bookings, loads, and planning
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company and compliance standards
About You
- Previous experience within transport planning, logistics, or a similar role
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks at once
- Confident communicator, able to liaise with a range of stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
- Good IT skills and confidence using planning systems
- Experience with systems such as Qargo or Haulage Exchange would be beneficial, but not essential
