Senior Python Developer with Platform Engineering Exposure

Rate: £450 per day Inside IR35

Duration: 6 months initially

Start: ASAP

Location: Mostly remote, with travel to Leeds around once per month

Clearance: SC clearance required or must be eligible

On-call: Required once up to speed, currently 1 in 6 weeks

We are looking for a Senior Python Developer with strong exposure to AWS, Terraform, CI/CD and secure software delivery to support a nationally critical healthcare integration and messaging platform.

The role is primarily hands-on Python development, with responsibility for contributing to cloud-native platform work, improving CI/CD processes, supporting code quality gates, and helping ensure deployments meet security, technical and governance standards.

Key Skills
  • Strong Python application development experience
  • AWS or wider public cloud experience
  • Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code tools
  • GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD tooling
  • Secure SDLC and secure coding experience
  • Observability, monitoring or logging tools
  • Experience supporting complex production systems or incident investigations
Responsibilities
  • Develop secure, maintainable Python code
  • Support cloud-native application development
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines and code quality processes
  • Work with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code
  • Support observability, monitoring and incident investigation
  • Work with product teams on cloud and platform best practice
  • Participate in the on-call rota once fully onboarded
Nice to Have
  • Platform engineering or DevOps team experience
  • Experience building reusable IaC components or CI jobs
  • Experience using static or dynamic security analysis tools

This is a 6-month contract paying £450 per day Inside IR35, mostly remote with travel to Leeds around once per month.
