My Yorkshire based client is looking to recruit an experienced IT Operations Manager to take ownership of day to day IT services and Infrastructure, leading the internal helpdesk team and working closely with the IT Director to turn strategy into practical outcomes - from service reliability and cyber resilience through to use of AI and automation.
Within this role, the IT Operations Manager will be responsible for:
- IT service delivery and operations
- Owning the day to day running of IT services across infrastructure, cloud platforms, business applications, telephony, and end user computing
- Being accountable for service health, capacity, and major incident escalation
- People leadership
- Day to day supervision of the Helpdesk team
- Appraisals and performance management
- Infrastructure and Cloud Platforms
- Overseeing the operational health of Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune
- Ensuring systems are patched, monitored, secure, and clearly documented.
- Business systems
- Managing availability and supplier relationships for core legal systems, including Partner for Windows and NetDocuments
- Acting as a reliable point of coordination between the firm and its technology partners
- IT service management
- Embedding Halo ITSM into everyday working practices
- Using service management data to improve responsiveness, consistency, and user experience
- AI and automation
- Working with the IT Director to identify practical opportunities for AI and automation
- Helping teams work more efficiently without losing sight of risk, governance, or usability.
- Cyber security and data protection
- Day to day ownership of cyber security controls, including Cyber Essentials Plus
- Managing access controls, patching, backup, and disaster recovery
- Working with the IT Director, MSP, and specialist suppliers to maintain security and compliance
- Supplier management and governance
- Managing MSP and supplier relationships against agreed SLAs
- Supporting renewal and procurement decisions with clear insight
As IT Manager/IT Operations Manager, you will possess the following:
- Proven experience in an IT Operations or IT management role, ideally within a professional or regulated environment
- Experience leading people, with a flexible and thoughtful management style.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft centric environments (Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune)
- Experience using Power Automate and a genuine interest in AI and automation.
- Ability to explain technical subjects clearly to non-technical colleagues.
- Experience managing third party suppliers and MSPs.
- Working knowledge of ITSM service management tools - ideally Halo ITSM
- A solid understanding of cyber security fundamentals, including Cyber Essentials or equivalent.
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot Studio or similar AI platforms
- Familiarity with Partner for Windows, NetDocuments, or similar systems
