Our client, a fast-growing fintech company is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Head of Finance to lead and build its finance function. This is a high-impact opportunity for a qualified finance professional with financial services/lending experience who thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environments. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the successful candidate will take ownership of financial operations, reporting, strategic planning, and financial infrastructure as the business continues to scale. As Head of Finance, you will play a central role in shaping the company’s financial strategy and operational framework. You’ll oversee the financial reporting of the lending portfolio, manage audits and compliance, support fundraising activities, and provide commercial insight to support sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and develop the finance and accounting infrastructure, including systems, controls, processes, and policies
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK accounting standards
- Manage the year-end audit process and liaise with external auditors and advisors
- Develop robust financial models, budgets, forecasts, and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Oversee cash flow, liquidity management, and working capital planning
- Provide commercial and strategic financial insight to support business growth and operational performance
- Support investor reporting, fundraising activity, and financial due diligence processes
- Identify and implement process improvements and scalable financial systems
- Partner with senior stakeholders across the business to align financial objectives with wider company strategy
Candidate Profile
- Minimum 5 years’ senior level finance experience
- Strong understanding of lending products, lending-related financial reporting, and financial modelling
- Experience within fintech, financial services, or high-growth startup environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial controls
- Excellent analytical, commercial, and problem-solving capabilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Hands‑on approach with the ability to operate effectively within a lean, high‑performing team
