Governance Architect - Technology, AI & Cloud

Location: Hybrid - minimum 1 day per week on-site at Heathrow for the first 3 weeks
We are looking for an experienced Governance Architect to support a major technology transformation programme, with a particular focus on AI, cloud and technology governance.
The role will be responsible for defining practical guardrails, standards, approval routes and reusable architecture patterns that allow delivery teams to adopt technology, cloud services and AI safely and consistently.
This is a hands-on architecture governance role, focused on creating clear, usable frameworks rather than high-level policy.
Key Responsibilities
- Define technology, AI and cloud guardrails and standards.
- Develop frameworks for assessing, approving, restricting, reviewing and retiring AI tools and use cases.
- Create reusable architecture and cloud patterns for delivery teams.
- Define cloud patterns for AI workloads across identity, networking, data access, integration, observability, resilience and cost control.
- Produce technology and cloud roadmaps covering current state, target state, gaps and dependencies.
- Define operational standards covering naming, tagging, tooling, monitoring, logging, resilience and recovery.
- Establish approaches for identifying, recording and managing technology and cloud technical debt.
- Maintain architecture principles, standards, decision records and supporting guidance.
- Align governance across cyber security, data, legal, risk, procurement, architecture and delivery.
- Provide guidance and reference material to support technical assurance and architecture reviews.
Experience Required
- Strong experience defining technology, AI or cloud governance frameworks.
- Experience creating guardrails, standards and reusable architecture patterns.
- Experience developing governance and approval processes for AI tools and AI-enabled use cases.
- Strong AWS architecture experience, with exposure to Azure.
- Understanding of cloud architecture requirements for AI workloads.
- Experience producing technology roadmaps, architecture decision records and technical debt frameworks.
- Experience working across cyber security, data, legal, risk, procurement and delivery teams.
- Experience with GitHub, AWS Kiro and Jira, including automation across these environments.
- Comfortable operating within complex enterprise transformation environments.
Contract Details The initial engagement is for 11 weeks, with potential for extension depending on programme requirements.
The role is hybrid, with a requirement to attend the Heathrow site at least once per week for the first three weeks.
