Exalto Consulting is partnering with a well-established organisation that operates at significant scale and relies on robust, high-performing data platforms to support critical business services.

As they continue to modernise their technology estate and evolve their data capabilities, they are looking to appoint a Senior Database & ETL Engineer to join their team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced database professional who enjoys balancing operational database ownership with hands-on engineering and data integration work. you'll play a key role in ensuring business-critical platforms remain secure, resilient, performant, and available, while also contributing to the ongoing development of data pipelines and platform improvements.

you'll be responsible for the administration, support, optimisation, and ongoing development of the organisation s database estate, with a particular focus on Microsoft SQL Server and Teradata environments.

Alongside this, you'll design and support ETL and data integration solutions that enable reliable movement of data across operational, reporting, analytics, and warehouse platforms.

This is a varied role that combines database administration, performance tuning, troubleshooting, automation, data engineering, and project delivery. you'll work closely with colleagues across data, applications, infrastructure, and analytics teams to support both day-to-day operations and longer-term platform modernisation initiatives.

We re interested in speaking with professionals who combine strong technical capability with a practical and collaborative approach.

you'll ideally bring

  • Proven hands-on experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server in production environments.
  • Strong T-SQL development and database performance tuning skills.
  • Experience administering, monitoring, and troubleshooting enterprise database platforms.
  • ETL/ELT development experience, ideally including SSIS.
  • Experience supporting backup, recovery, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience working with business-critical data pipelines and production support environments.
  • The ability to work across both operational support and engineering-focused project work.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience with Teradata would be highly beneficial, while exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Azure data services, or other large-scale data platforms would be advantageous.
