We're recruiting a Senior Application Support Developer to join a technology team responsible for maintaining and supporting a large, business-critical application estate. This is a true application support role. The focus is on resolving bugs, handling tickets, and delivering small, incremental fixes across multiple applications, rather than building new features or greenfield systems. If you enjoy problem-solving, working through a Kanban queue, and improving system stability through hands-on code changes, this role is likely to be a good fit.
The role involves working in a Kanban-style environment, picking up tickets raised through 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support and taking them through investigation, fix and resolution. Day to day, you'll be debugging and fixing production issues, making small targeted code changes, supporting and maintaining multiple applications, investigating data and reporting issues, working across a mixed and legacy technology estate, and collaborating closely with support teams and other developers. This role is about keeping systems running reliably and improving them incrementally, not delivering large projects or redesigning platforms.
Technology environment includes a legacy-heavy but business-critical stack, including Classic ASP, JScript, C#, .NET, Java, SQL and relational databases, SSIS and SSRS. You don't need to be an expert in every technology listed, but you do need to be comfortable working in and around them.
What we're looking for:
- Strong experience as an Application Support Developer or in a support-led development role
- Comfort working on bugs, tickets and small fixes rather than large feature builds
- Experience supporting live production systems
- Confidence debugging legacy code and mixed technology stacks
- Strong SQL skills for investigation and fixes
- A calm, methodical approach to problem solving
Working pattern: Hybrid working with 2 days per week onsite in West Yorkshire.
Package: £65,000 base salary, £6,000 car allowance, plus up to 10% bonus.
