6-9 month contract | Outside IR35 | 2 days per week onsite in Leeds, West Yorkshire

Exalto Consulting is partnering with a long‑established retail and distribution group undergoing significant modernisation of its core systems. As they continue to move away from legacy platforms and adopt Microsoft Dynamics 365 as their future operational backbone, we are looking for an experienced D365 Solution Architect to guide design, integration and delivery across several critical workstreams. This is a hands‑on, outcomes‑focused role where your decisions will directly shape how the organisation manages suppliers, product data, procurement, landed cost and import operations. The work is meaningful and impactful, supporting a business moving toward a modern, scalable application estate.

The Opportunity

You will act as the architectural lead across Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and Supply Chain, ensuring solutions are well‑designed, aligned, and fit for long‑term use. You'll work closely with internal teams and external partners, providing clarity, governance, and direction as the organisation retires legacy systems and invests in streamlined, automated processes. This role suits someone who enjoys blending strategic architectural thinking with practical, hands‑on solution shaping.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing end‑to‑end Dynamics 365 F&O/SCM solutions across supplier management, product information, purchasing, landed cost and import processes.
  • Ensuring designs maximise standard D365 capability and reduce unnecessary customisation.
  • Defining integration patterns using Azure Integration Services and guiding the retirement of legacy mainframe feeds.
  • Leading solution governance, including design reviews, documentation, and engagement with architectural forums.
  • Supporting data migration strategy, security model design, testing approaches and ongoing alignment across delivery teams.
  • Working with stakeholders to guide process redesign and maintain solution integrity across multiple workstreams.
  • Identifying risks, improvement opportunities and supporting the roadmap to decommission legacy systems.

About You

You bring a depth of experience designing and delivering Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations/Supply Chain solutions and working across complex process areas such as procurement, product data and landed cost. You will be comfortable taking ownership of architecture direction, collaborating openly with partners and business teams, and ensuring solutions remain scalable, secure and grounded in best practice.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Proven experience leading D365 solution architecture across F&O/SCM.
  • Strong understanding of out‑of‑the‑box capability and how to use it effectively.
  • Experience defining data flows, integration patterns and Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, APIM, Service Bus).
  • Confidence governing partner outputs and ensuring alignment to architectural standards.
  • Experience supporting data migration, security design and environment strategies.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to facilitate workshops and guide design decisions.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., MB‑600, D365 F&O, Azure Fundamentals, TOGAF) are welcomed but not essential if you offer equivalent experience.

If you're a thoughtful, collaborative Dynamics 365 Solution Architect who values clarity, stability and long‑term design integrity, we'd be pleased to hear from you.
