Mainframe Automation & Batch Scheduling Analyst 18-24 months FTC Hybrid (Bradford, West Yorkshire, 2 days onsite in Bradford per week)
Exalto Consulting is working with a well established UK retail business to appoint an experienced Automation & Batch Scheduling Analyst. This organisation operates large scale, business critical systems where reliable processing and system stability are essential to day to day operations. This is a hands on technical role focused on maintaining and improving the automation and batch environments that sit at the heart of core services.
You will join a team responsible for ensuring systems run efficiently, consistently, and with minimal disruption. You will take ownership of automation, workload scheduling, and batch processing activities within a mainframe environment. A key part of the role is the use of IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) to design, manage and optimise complex batch workflows. This includes developing scripts, managing job schedules, and resolving issues to maintain smooth and reliable operations. Your work will ensure critical processes run on time, data is handled accurately, and operational risks are minimised.
Essential experience
- Strong hands on experience with IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) is essential
- Strong experience with REXX scripting and automation
- Proficiency in CLIST programming
- Solid experience managing enterprise batch scheduling environments (such as IWS, TWS or OPC)
- In depth knowledge of JCL and batch processing
- Familiarity with z OS, TSO ISPF, and core mainframe utilities
- Proven experience diagnosing and resolving batch and scheduling issues
