Initial 12 Month Contract, Inside IR35 Hybrid (Bradford, West Yorkshire - 2 days onsite in Bradford per week)

Exalto Consulting is working with a well-established UK business in the retail sector to appoint an experienced Application Support Analyst on an initial 12 month contract basis (inside IR35). This organisation operates at scale, with technology playing a critical role in keeping its online and transactional systems running smoothly and reliably.

This role sits within a technology and transformation team responsible for supporting and evolving core systems that underpin day-to-day operations. It offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, business-critical work where reliability, stability, and continuous improvement genuinely matter.

You will play a key role in supporting and enhancing mission-critical mainframe applications, with a particular focus on financial and transactional systems. The position combines hands-on technical support with involvement in ongoing system improvements and change delivery. Your work will directly support the continuity of online operations, while helping to modernise and strengthen existing platforms.

Essential experience
  • Proven experience supporting and enhancing mainframe applications
  • Strong knowledge of COBOL-based systems and associated technologies
  • Experience working within z/OS environments
  • Hands-on exposure to tools and components such as JCL, CICS, DB2, and batch processing
  • Familiarity with incident, problem, and change management processes
  • Confidence working across both support activities and project delivery
Desirable
  • Experience with financial or transactional systems such as Financier
  • Exposure to large-scale or retail environments
  • Involvement in system upgrades, migrations, or major enhancements
