Join Our Crew Mission

Sitting at the core of the company groups, team up with 30+ support engineers across the globe from a variety of technical backgrounds and expertise. By working side by side with customers both on-site and remotely, the Support team ensures smooth integration and operation of Exail products. This role provides hands-on experience primarily with Exail's range of offshore product solutions, but may also include maritime navigation solutions, motion simulation tables, and USV operations. Providing 24/7 support to our customers, the offshore support engineer is Europe-based but supports offshore customers and operations worldwide. This involves on-site travel to customer sites and offshore vessels globally. The engineer is regarded as a technical expert on offshore products and works closely with the sales team to understand customer needs and identify proper solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent Exail to customers internally and externally.
  • On-vessel/site support: Perform or support customers in positioning operations on vessels, likely 4 weeks at a time. Pre-survey, installation, commissioning, training, demos, technical assistance. Prepare, execute, feedback, debrief, report, and follow up. Worldwide travel.
  • Remote support: Support remote operations in real-time, potentially across time zones. Document, analyze, report, and record customer claims.
  • Internal support: Collaborate with all Exail teams to resolve support cases. Assist sales and project teams pre- and post-sale. Coordinate with product managers for updates on product development.
  • Team development: Participate in ongoing training on related products. Improve support procedures and tools. Share knowledge within the offshore support team.

Location: Europe, hybrid offshore/office/remote work, with proximity to Aberdeen, Haarlem, Brest, La Ciotat, or Saint-Germain offices preferred.

Travel: Approximately 40% of the time, up to several weeks per year. Travel Regions: EU regions, with right to work in relevant local offices or EU citizenship.

Candidate Profile:

  • 5+ years offshore industry experience in a technical role, ideally survey engineering or related fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/science or equivalent offshore experience.
  • Experience with high-tech products or military background with offshore experience.
  • Understanding of offshore environments and operations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Resourceful, independent, and adaptable.
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Customer-oriented and results-driven.
  • Knowledge of inertial navigation, underwater acoustics, survey, or gyrocompasses is advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Office.

Physical Requirements:

  • Comfortable working on boats at sea worldwide.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain offshore medical and training certifications.
