We are seeking a Business Development Associate to join our growing Business Development team. This role combines customer account management, commercial support, and business development activity. You will act as a key interface between our customers and internal delivery teams, ensuring strong relationships, successful project execution, and account growth.

Key responsibilities:

  • Business Development & Growth
    • Identify new customer leads and opportunities and expand existing customer relationships.
    • Support new business development activities, customer engagement initiatives, and strategic partnerships.
    • Contribute to market research and opportunity identification.
    • Assist with investment and fundraising activities.
    • Support with grant proposal scoping and preparation.
  • Customer Account Management
    • Prepare commercial quotations, pricing proposals, and commercial offers.
    • Review commercial agreements, statements of work, proposals, and customer contracts.
    • Support invoicing activities in line with contractual requirements and agreed schedules.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned customer accounts, building strong, trusted relationships.
    • Support technical teams in the successful delivery of customer projects.
    • Facilitate regular customer meetings, project reviews, and progress reporting.
  • Reporting, Analysis & Business Support
    • Develop presentations and slide decks for customers, investors, stakeholders, and senior leadership when required.
    • Assist in continuous improvement initiatives across business operations and project delivery processes.
    • Support the implementation and maintenance of business systems, processes, and reporting tools (e.g. CRM systems).
    • Provide flexible support to the team and undertake ad hoc duties as required.

About You

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, commercially aware, and comfortable working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. You will be confident engaging with customers and internal stakeholders, and motivated by both relationship-building and delivering operational excellence.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or science related field (PhD preferred).
  • Previous experience (ideally 2+ years) in account management, business development, or a similar commercial role.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience preparing professional documents such as commercial proposals, reports, and presentations.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in working with CRM systems.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience in a technical, scientific, engineering, or innovation-led environment ideally in pharma/biotech field.
  • Familiarity with commercial contracts, pricing, and customer agreements.
  • Familiarity with IP portfolio management.

We offer an attractive remuneration package and a hybrid working environment. The candidate will be expected to work 2 days per week from our office in Dagenham East.
