Career opportunity for commercial SME finance professional, looking for a controller level role with a mix of hands-on accounting with a strong operational involvement in running the business.

My client are £10 million turnover, customer facing service sector operation with several sites in the South and a head office in Havant.

They’re hiring due to rapid growth and wish to capitalise on this momentum.

The directors in this hire are looking to upgrade their finance function taking more in-house control from the external accountants.

You will have a team of people working for you - some dedicated to finance - others working in other operational areas such as procurement who may have a different line manager.

Optimising this structure will be a key part of your role.

I’m looking for an ambitious individual who may be qualified or qualified by experience.

You will be adept at improving reporting using the latest software such as Xero and other AI addons.

You’ll also enjoy improving financial and operational reporting at both consolidated level and individually several business units.

Another key roll will be working with the directors to set up new limited companies as things expand and new ventures are added.

The financial duties will will be classic within an SME and crucially you will not mind “rolling your sleeves up” but also be able to act strategically as part of the senior management team.

For the right individual who can prove themselves to add value, my client will be open-minded in the future with more involvement in the business for shared reward.
