As our People & Culture Manager, you'll take ownership of the systems and practices that make work fair, inspiring, and effective. This role is about leading with confidence, shaping processes that empower, and driving initiatives that help every individual - and the business - perform at their best.
Your Mission
This is more than HR administration. It's about creating a foundation for growth and resilience. You'll keep the essentials running smoothly while championing improvements that unite teams and strengthen leadership. You'll help us adapt as we scale, ensuring roles are clear, managers are supported, and culture remains a driver of success.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Integrity: Maintain accurate, secure employee records; prepare contracts, letters, and payroll inputs.
- Deliver Impactful Onboarding: Manage starters and leavers; design onboarding that sets people up for success.
- Advise with Confidence: Be the go-to for HR queries; guide managers through fair, timely processes.
- Recruit with Purpose: Write compelling job adverts, manage candidate experience, and complete compliance checks.
- Support Wellbeing: Track attendance and holiday; lead return-to-work conversations with empathy.
- Keep Policies Clear: Update and communicate policies so everyone knows the rules of engagement.
- Turn Insight into Action: Share monthly People reports and recommend practical improvements.
- Recognise Achievement: Organise updates and recognition moments that make great work visible.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with Finance and IT to ensure smooth joiner/leaver processes.
- Drive Cultural Progress: Translate leadership insights into clear actions; monitor progress on key projects.
- Leverage Analytics: Use CultureNav to surface insights and track cultural initiatives.
- Maintain Organisational Clarity: Keep org charts and role profiles current; build a skills map; turn survey data into quarterly improvement plans.
What You Bring
- CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience.
- Solid HR administration experience in an SME environment.
- A proactive mindset: you see what needs doing, act decisively, and follow through.
- Strong communication skills to support managers and handle sensitive matters fairly.
- Competence with spreadsheets and HR systems; clear, accurate documentation.
- Experience delivering small OD/change projects (role mapping, job families, succession snapshots).
- Manufacturing or engineering experience is a plus.
The Journey Ahead
- Hours: Full-time, 39 hours/week
- Working arrangements: 4 days on-site in Coventry and 1 day working from home; occasional travel to other sites or partners.
- Contract: Permanent.
- Probationary period: 3 months.
